2012 Singapore Cup champions Singapore Armed Forces FC [SAFFC] will be travelling up north to Thailand for a pre-season invitational tournament organized by Chonburi Football Associations [CFA], as they prepare for the upcoming 2013 S.League season.

The six-team tournament will be hosted by Chonburi FC [Group A] and Pattaya United [Group B] from January 22 to 28 at the Chonburi Stadium and Nongprue Municipality Stadium respectively.

A third Thai representative, Muangthong United, will be joined by Vietnamese side Becamex Binh Duong in the tournament while the organizers  are still waiting for confirmation from South Korean team Busan I’Park.

The teams will be divided into two groups and the group winners will fight for the top prize money of 300, 000 baht [approximately SGD 12,000] while the runners-up will be 200,000 baht richer.

The ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the tournament will also be presented with a trophy and prize money of 30,000 Baht.

SAFFC, who have signed several new players such as Sufian Anuar, Abdil Qayyim and Hyrulnizam Juma’at [all from LionsXII] and Shi Jiayi [Home United] for the new season, will be using the opportunity to accustom the players with the regional style of football as they will be representing Singapore in the AFC Cup.

The Warriors are in Group E alongside Kitchee [Hong Kong], Semen Padang [Indonesia] and Churchill Brothers [India] and will kick-start their AFC Cup journey with an away trip to Indonesia on March 5.
