Nike pledged a renewal of their partnership with the Football Association of Singapore at the official launch of the new Singapore team kits for the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup.
The official launch event for the new Singapore national team kit for the AFF Suzuki Cup was held at the Amara Hotel ballroom, where Nike revealed that they would continue to sponsor Singapore's national senior and youth teams until 2016 as part of their ongoing efforts to support and develop local football.
Singapore skipper Shahril Ishak paraded the kit along with teammates Baihakki Khaizan, Hariss Harun, Shahdan Sulaiman, Safuwan Baharudin and Safirul Sulaiman, and the six players fielded questions from members of the national youth football teams and some young fans.
A placard, which bears the visual of four Lions in the new team kit and the message "My Time Is Now", will be displayed at Weston Corporation's Queensway store from November 19 to 24 for fans to pen their well wishes. The placard will eventually be presented to the team at the airport before they depart for the tournament.
"We hope to inspire the fans to express their support for the Lions by giving them an avenue to share their messages of encouragement. We are happy to be continuing our partnership with FAS and [we] hope that this will inspire the players to achieve a breakthrough performance at the AFF Suzuki Cup, and bring the title back to Singapore," Nike Singapore Country Marketing Manager Vijaya Kumar Jayaraj said.
FAS President Zainudin Nordin expressed delight at Nike's decision to extend their partnership, and claimed the placard initiative would serve as a "source of inspiration" for both players and fans.
The Singapore national team kits are priced at SGD 89 each and is available at all major Nike distributors and Weston Corporation outlets.
