Pakistan head coach plays down expectations after announcing squad for Singapore friendly

Milosavljevic Zavisa who has yet to see his side play, believes his team is still not at optimal level and may struggle against Singapore in their friendly next week
Pakistan head coach has lowered expectations for his team for the upcoming friendly next week against Singapore.

Zivisa’s views were expressed after a press conference announcing the squad travelling for the match against the Lions.

“We are still in the process of building and creating a team and once we do it then we can expect results,” Zavisa told

The friendly comes nearly a year since Pakistan’s last international game, and Zavisa is happy to be able to assess his side with this match against the Lions.

“I still have to check [a] few domestic players and to examine whether they can adjust and adopt the different conditions and environments or not,” he said.

“Since my appointment, my team hasn’t played a single game. I have yet to watch them play.

“This tour will be a good opportunity to watch them playing on the fields.”

Ultimately, Zavisa’s objective is to prepare a squad capable of challenging for honours in the upcoming Challenge Cup, a regional tournament akin to the Asian Cup, although it is for countries who are still in the infancy of their football developments.

“Our ultimate goal is to prepare and create the team for the Challenge Cup,” Zavisa said.

Seven foreign-based players have been selected for this squad, with Zeeshan Rehman, who is based in Honk Kong, being the most senior member of this team. Rehman is expected to play a vital role in Pakistan’s performance.
