Singapore League Cup champions Brunei DPMM FC have confirmed that they have released three foreign players, namely strikers Basiru Osman and Patrick da Silva, as well as midfielder Ivan Jerkovic.
Croatian Jerkovic netted six times for the Bruneians in the recently-concluded 2012 S.League season, while Ghanaian Osman and Brazilian Da Silva bagged five and four goals respectively as the Wasps finished second.
The fourth foreign player in their roster, Brazilian Tales dos Santos, is still contracted to the club. The giant centreback was forced to sit out his team's last two league matches due to a knee injury, and is currently recuperating back home.
With the release of the above-mentioned trio, the Bruneians have set their eyes on several former English Premier League [EPL] stars, including former West Ham United and Fulham midfielder Luis Boa Morte and ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers full-back, Pascal Chimbonda.
Brunei’s only professional club have also invited Brazilian Edison Luiz Dos Santos, Liberian Dominic Jlateh and Nigerian Sibi Gwar along with the two former EPL stars for a try-out session.
Striker Edison last played for Hungarian top division club, Kecskemeti TE. Prior to his move to Hungary, Edision scored 23 goals and won the golden boot while plying his trade with Hibernians FC in the Maltese league.
Jlateh, the son of ex-Liberian international Aloysius Jlateh, finished as the top scorer with 20 goals for Liberian Premier League side, FC Fatu in the recent 2012 season.
Super Eagles international Gwar has twice won the NFA Golden Boot, during the 2008 and 2012 Nigeria Premier League seasons with Lobi Stars FC and Kwara United respectively.
The 25-year-old midfielder received his first international call up on August this year when he was named in the Nigeria squad for a friendly against Niger.
The try-out session will be held in the Sultanate at the end of November.
