A rumour circulating on Internet forums linking Gary Steven Robbat with a German trial gets dismissed by his coach, Ong Kim Swee
Harimau Muda coach Ong Kim Swee has squashed rumours that midfielder Gary Steven Robbat is due a trial with German club FC Köln.
Kim Swee confirmed that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) never received any formal approach for Gary and slammed the parties spreading the rumour for being irresponsible.
"We have not received anything official from anyone on Gary. The usual procedure is for a licensed FIFA agent to approach the association,” said Kim Swee yesterday.
“"But there are some people who are trying to act smart and take advantage of us. We need to take action against these people, who are trying to play the fool with us.
"Clubs need to send an official letter to us if they are interested in our players, and if they do, then it is good."
Gary, who has been part of the national youth set-up since 2008, is currently on the roster of Young Tigers A that participates in Singapore’s S-League.
The 19-year-old midfielder is however injured at the moment and will miss the Tigers’ league game against Brunei DPMM FC in Bandar Seri Begawan today.
