Four uncapped players in Singapore squad for Hong Kong friendly

The Football Association of Singapore have announced the Singapore squad for the upcoming international friendly against Hong Kong.

The match, which will serve as preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup later this year, will be played on August 15 at Bishan Stadium.

Players from LionsXII will form the bulk of the squad once again, with 14 from the Malaysian Super League side getting called up. However team captain, Shahril Ishak has been left out as he is still recovering from a previous shoulder injury.

Team-mates Agu Casmir and Safuwan Baharudin will also be missing, having been given time off to recover from injury as well.

Four previously uncapped players have made the senior team, namely Courts Young Lions duo, Nazrul Nazari and Shahfiq Ghani, Balestier Khalsa custodian Joey Sim and Tampines Rovers’ Jufri Thaha.

The average age of the squad of 25 is 24.7 years, with eight players below the age of 23.
