Ong Kim Swee has named his squad for the upcoming Java Cup tournament in Indonesia. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on the 26th of July and will end on the 30th of July. This friendly tournament boasts two European teams, Everton of England and Galatasaray of Turkey.
The official list was released by the FAM yesterday and it contains mostly Harimau Muda A players. However, the squad also includes notable names such as veteran midfielders, Shukor Adan and Mohd Amri Yahaya, and two foreign players, Perak’s Michal Kubala and Selangor’s Ramez Dayoub.
Kubala has become a household name in Malaysia Super League this season with his breathtaking displays from the middle of the park. He is Perak’s top scorer with 12 goals. Lebanese centreback Dayoub on the other hand has put in solid displays for fallen giants, Selangor.
The inclusion of the two foreign players will surely be a hot topic for Malaysian football fans but one thing is for sure, this squad will not be on a holiday mission in Jakarta come next week as they will be looking to mount a challenge for the cup.
Malaysia will start their campaign against David Moyes' Everton FC.
