thumbnail Hello,

Singapore coach Raddy Avramovic has announced his selection for the matches against Hong Kong and Malaysia and there are a handful of surprises

There is still no recall for veteran forward Aleksandar Duric in the 27-man Singapore squad that has been announced for the upcoming friendly matches, but Sufian Annuar of LionsXII and in-form Ahmad Fahmie are the strikers who have been named in the 42-year-old's place.

Unlike Sufian, who has one cap to his name, Ahmad has yet to make his Singapore national team bow. He is joined by other newcomers like Poh Yi Feng of Balestier Khalsa and Shahfiq Ghani of Courts Younh Lions.

In addition, five other uncapped LionsXII players have also made the cut, namely Hyrulnizam Juma'at, Firdaus Kasman, Shakir Hamzah, Yasir Hanapi and Safirul Sulaiman.

The Malaysian Super League leaders contribute the largest pool of players, making up 18 of the 27-man list.

Tampines Rovers, Home United and Balestier Khalsa contribute two each, with both China-born players from the Protectors also included.

The team will depart for Hong Kong on May 30 for their first friendly fixture on June 1. They will then prepare for their two-legged friendly against Malaysia.

The highly anticipated Causeway Derby will be played in Singapore first on June 8 before the team will depart for Shah Alam, Selangor for the return leg on June 12.
