Goalkeeper - Ng Jia Fa (Hougang United) Former National Football Academy trainee Ng Jia Fa was Hougang's second-choice goalkeeper up till his impressive performance in their last league fixture against the Young Lions. Having been unexpectedly fielded for his first full ninety minutes of the season, Ng Jia Fa made several brilliant saves, managing to maintain a clean sheet against his young opponents. If Ng Jia Fa was to maintain his current form through the season, Hougang United will definitely be a tough nut to crack. |

Right-back - Hafiz Osman (Tanjong Pagar) A draw and a big defeat against table-toppers Albirex has not put Tanjong Pagar on the radar but one has to take into account their performance as a whole. Hafiz Osman who signed from SAFFC in the close season has helped stabilise the Jaguars backline. The right-back even notched an early goal against the White Swans to give the underdogs a surprise lead. A late collapse and a trio of late goals however, sealed defeat for Hafiz's team. |

Centre-back - Paul Cunningham (Balestier Khalsa) Leading his team from the backline, Paul Cunningham did well to help his side maintain their shape and composure, eventually seeing them draw with Home United and sail past Tampines Rovers with four points in the bag. Having come close to scoring more than once against reigning champions Tampines while being almost impenetrable at the back, Cunningham proves to be worth more than his weight in gold. |

Centre-back - Franklin Anzite (Home United) Including the Charity Shield defeat to Tampines Rovers, Home had not scored a single goal in two matches and did not look like they could. How unlikely it is then that Anzite was to be the person to open the Protectors account for the season. The centre-back powered in a late equaliser for the Singapore Cup holders to earn a point against an unfancied Gombak side. Home had suffered defensively in his absence following the delays in clearance of his International Transfer Certificate, but the former Etoile man has now made his debut with a splash. |

Left-back - Jaslee Hatta (Balestier Khalsa) Balestier Khalsa have yet to concede any goals this season and this is due in no small part to its very disciplined defence line. Former Gomback captain Jaslee Hatta had very sucessfully cut-off attackers against Home United. Up against Tampines Rovers the formidable left-back was unmovable yet again helping steer his new team to a famous win.

Right midfield - Ruhaizad Ismail (Balestier Khalsa) Ruhaizad Ismail had come on to take over Hamqaamal Shah late in the game against Tampines, but he definitely left his footprints all over the pitch. Having scored a brilliant winning goal against the reigning champions in the last five minutes of the game, this young fellow is bound to be turning heads if he is able to maintain his speed and deft footwork in Balestier's midfield. |

Centre midfield - Azhar Sairudin (Hougang United) Azhar Sairudin was Hougang's midfield maestro and arguably the man-of-the-match during their last league game against the Young Lions. Having had two assists in that game alone and countless other worthy advances toward his opponents net, Azhar Sairudin has been well on form. |

Centre midfield - Musashi Okuyama (Albirex Niigata) The heartbeat of the new-look Albirex side, Okuyama provided two assists in his side's big win against Tanjong Pagar. A pin-point cross from a free-kick set-up Yasuhiro Yamakashi's second goal of the night, while an intuitive counter-attack led by the midfielder was capped off by Toshikazu Soya to seal his team's fourth goal. Okuyama may not have registered himself on the scoresheet like his partner Masatake Sato, but he did come close with a shot that rattled the crossbar. Photo courtesy of Albirex Niigata Facebook |

Left midfield - Jordan Webb (Hougang United) Having scored two goals out of two games in the latest installation of the S.League, Jordan Webb proves to be a force to be reckoned with. In the last game against the Young Lions, Webb spent the better half running rounds around his markers while trying to set up chances. Venomous down the flank, and in linking up with the equally in-form Sobrie Mazelan and Mamadou Diallo, Webb looks to be a real asset to the team. |

Striker - Yasuhiro Yamakoshi (Albirex Niigata) Yamakoshi was only a substitute in the match against Tanjong Pagar but the forward still bagged himself two goals in his side's 4-1 win. His first, came within fifteen minutes of his introduction to hand the lead to the home side. Yamakoshi then took full advantage of Tanjong Pagar's collapsing defence by scoring from a free-kick for his second. Photo courtesy of Yip Siu Ming |
