After a disappointing home loss last time out, can Fandi and his men recover? Goal Singapore give their take as the LionsXII take on the league leaders
You know which club reminds me of LionsXII? Manchester United, that's right. Champions last season, and now with a managerial change, everything goes haywire (in a nutshell). United have the best away form in the league, but their home form leaves a lot to be desired. In a way, that kind of sums up the LionsXII campaign too, don't you think? Their loss against Sime Darby was shocking, yes. But yet again, their profligacy in front of goal has cost them. I don't think I need to be any more harsh than that, especially with what Fandi has said. Well, no doubt the best way to answer their critics is to get a result against the current league leaders, but it's easier said than done. Hence, a draw wouldn't be too much to ask. Or is it?
|Prediction: 1-1. Time for the LionsXII to regain their spark with a creditable draw against the league leaders.
Well, well, well. Nobody saw that defeat to Sime Darby coming, eh? Fandi certainly had some harsh words for his boys after the loss and I think most of it was justified. The team has looked woeful at times at home this season despite good crowd support and I think it might be due to the pressure. Just look at how much better the LionsXII are on the road in comparison. Against Sime Darby, there weren't even that many chances created and for all the talk about penalties not given and balls not crossing the line, one would be hard pressed to find a compelling case for the LionsXII deserving something out of the game. That said, I hope the players finally realise they simply have to do better than this and I shall maintain my optimism that they can get a result against the league leaders.
|Prediction: 1-1. The chips are down but a draw would be a morale-booster against a quality side.
