Andik Vermansyah prefers assists to goals

The Indonesian winger was all smiles after a winning debut for Selangor in the FA Cup first round against Young Tigers C

Selangor FA ran out comfortable winners in the FA Cup first-round match against Harimau Muda C at the MPPJ Stadium earlier this evening.

Coach Mehmet Durakovic fielded his Indonesian import, Andik Vermansyah, for the first time and the winger was delighted to make his debut.

"I'm very happy to have played my first game for Selangor and that it was a win, was all the better," he said after the game.

When asked about his integration into his new team, Andik was positive about the short time since he arrived.

"Even though I arrived late to the team, I have settled in very well," he revealed.

"In training, I am continuing to build up the understanding with my new team mates and it is working very well. Obviously we have to show that in the proper competition and not just in training."

On his role with the team, Andik is confident in what he could bring to this Selangor side.

"I prefer the assist more than the goal," he explained.

"That's my style of play and as a winger, I don't always get the chance to score. You could see in today's match that I could help to create a lot of chances for my team mates."
