The Indonesia and Selangor star reveals his kit number at the Red Giants, and why he decided on it
Selangor's new Indonesian star, winger Andik Vermansyah, who recently joined the Red Giants in training for the first time, has chosen to don number 7 for the upcoming season, reported the Klang Valley outfit's official website.
The 23-year old, who is nicknamed 'Indonesia's Messi' by fans back in his country, when asked in an interview with the official website, on why he prefers that number over Messi's number 10, answered, "I don't like Messi at all. I don't know why the public calls me that. I chose number 7 because I am actually more of a Ronaldo fan. And there's also the issue that I am not at the same level as where Messi is now."
When asked why he chose Selangor over other teams, he responded that he did so due to the fact that Selangor are a very good team, and that he has previously watched clips of Selangor on Youtube.
Andik was the last player to join the Red Giants' training camp, after he was given an extension by the management following his participation in the recently-concluded 2013 SEA Games, that saw him help the Garudas to a silver medal. His absence from the daily training sessions and recent friendly matches only served to stoke the anticipation in both Selangor fans and Indonesian fans in the country, to see him perform in the red and yellow of Selangor.
