ATM's newest goal machine, is happy to be back in Malaysia and delighted to be reunited with fellow Argentinian Bruno Martelotto
Argentinian Juan Manuel Arostegui has expressed his delight at his return to the M-League after signing with ATM for the 2014 season.
According to him, he has to thank Bruno Martelotto, his childhood friend and fellow Argentine, as it was he who urged him to play for ATM.
The Star reported that Arostegui said “I have fond memories of my stay here. My family loved the country and I always felt home here so when I was given the chance to come back, I grabbed it.”
Arostegui added that Bruno’s advice had urged him to return back to the country where he was once top-scorer when he played for MPPJ in 2003.
“I have known Bruno since we were toddlers and he has told me great things about ATM. He also informed me that Malaysian football has improved a lot and it made my resolve to return stronger,” he added.
The last time Bruno and Arostegui played together here in Malaysia, both of them fired MPPJ to both the Malaysia Cup and Premier League titles in 2003. Arostegui did return in 2006 however things did not end well after he left due to financial problems at the club.
With a very high determination to win, Arostegui admitted that he has to fight with Marlon Alex James for a starting spot.
“I’m here to win, we have played in several pre-season matches and I think I’m blending (in) well. I do hope to score goals this season but it won’t be easy. There’s a fierce competition to get into the starting lineup but I’m ready for it as long as the team gets stronger,” insisted Arostegui.
