The usual Jalan Besar Stadium ground of the reigning Malaysian Super League champions will not be ready in time for the new season, which means they have to relocate
Having gone through the whole of last season with a record of 10 victories and one draw from 11 home games, Jalan Besar was turned into a fortress as the LionsXII stormed to the MSL title.
But with their homeground undergoing renovation and returfing works, Fandi Ahmad will lead his new team out for their first home game of the season at Bishan Stadium instead after the Football Association of Singapore confirmed it as a temporary venue.
“The completion of the returfing of Jalan Besar Stadium has been delayed due to delivery issues faced by the contractor," an FAS spokesperson told Goal Singapore in respone to queries.
"As such, the two LionsXII home games scheduled in January will be played at Bishan Stadium.”
The two games are believed to be against KL DRB Hicom (January 21) in the first round of the Malaysia FA Cup and Selangor FA (January 25) in the MSL.
The LionsXII will kick off their campaign against Pahang FA in the Charity Shield on January 17 in Kuantan.
