Brazilian striker Paulo Rangel has decided to continue his career in Malaysia and has signed for Selangor.
Paulo Rangel has left Perak for Selangor after there was much speculation of his departure from the Ipoh-based side to Thaiand’s Muangthong United FC.
This news was first revealed by Rangel’s agent but was later confirmed on the Brazilian’s Twitter account.
He wrote: “I would like to announce that my family and I have decided to stay in Malaysia next season.
“Thanks to all the Muangthong fans for your support when I was playing there.”
The 28-year-old indicated a debt that he owes Perak for helping him during a hard time in the past year but he was coy about what the problem was.
“My family and I had a very hard life and this is something I don’t want to talk about,” he added.
“Perak opened the door for me and took care of my family.
“It is not just about money but the respect they have for my career.”
Rangel moved from Muangthong United to Perak on a loan transfer and with that, he helped the Seladangs finish seventh in the Malaysian Super League.
In his seven-month spell in Perak, Rangel scored 13 times in 18 apperances.
