Although rumours have constantly surfaced on Selangor's new signings for next season without any official confirmations, it seems that the Red Giants had been preparing for next season by looking for a head coach first. Strong reports have emerged that their former player; Mehmet Durakovic is returning to Shah Alam to helm the head coach post which had earlier been vacated by Irfan Bakti.
The Australian plied his trade for Selangor from 1995 to 1998, before leaving for Sydney Olympic. He last managed A-League side Melbourne Victory in the 2011/12 season, before the club sacked him for poor results only seven months after his appointment.
Another former player reported to be rejoining the Red Giants, albeit in a playing role, is veteran Negeri Sembilan goalkeeper Hamsani Ahmad, who had earlier played for them from 2009 to 2010. The 37-year-old is expected to be occupying the back up goalkeeper role to Farizal Marlias, who has also been rumoured to be joining Selangor from Perak.
Efforts to contact the Football Association of Selangor for further details however were unsuccesful.
