The application process for the vacant LionsXII Head Coach post ended on Saturday, October 26 with over 70 applications received, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) have announced.
Although no names were revealed, Goal Singapore understands that Fandi Ahmad is among the applicants along with at least two names with regional experience. Besides Fandi, one other former Singapore international has also made a formal approach for the job.
Fandi had previously expressed interest in the post and is currently unattached following his departure from Johor Darul Takzim.
FAS held a two-week application process following the placement of a job ad on their official website. The ad stated that appointees will be required to assist National Coach Bernd Stange in 'preparing the National ‘A’, the Under-23 (which includes the Young Lions team), and the Under-21 teams for all international tournaments and friendly matches'.
There were also added responsibilities that the new LionsXII coach would be undertaking, including developing a coaching programme as part of the FAS Strategic Plan and scouting for talents from and outside Singapore.
Goal Singapore recently featured nine candidates who could possibly be in the running to take the job.
FAS also announced that an appointment will likely be made by the end of November.
