After only joining the Southern Tigers six months ago, it seems that JDT forward Leonel Nunez will be leaving the team. Rumours emerged a few days ago that he has been cut loose, which means that a replacement will be found for him.
He arrived in Malaysia with a great fanfare and an explosive debut for JDT, scoring a brace in the away leg of their Malaysia FA Cup quarterfinal match against Selangor to overturn the match and booking a berth in the final. However he failed to match his performance in the debut, accumulating only four goals in the Malaysian Super League, three in the FA Cup, and just one goal in the Malaysia Cup.
His exit means that JDT will be looking for a replacement soon. Earlier last month, JDT had already completed the signing of Nunez's compatriot, international star Pablo Aimar for the 2014 season. Also reported to be released by the Southern outfit is the 2010 AFF Cup top-scorer Safee Sali who has similarly failed to find his footing in a star-studded JDT side.
