The first leg of the semifinal match between ATM and Kelantan will be played in Shah Alam instead of the Selayang Stadium to accommodate more fans
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have decided that the clash between ATM and Kelantan on October 18 will be played at the Shah Alam Stadium instead of its original place in Selayang.
The match, which will be the first leg of the 2013 Malaysia Cup semifinal, will be played at Shah Alam due to safety precatutions for both of teams as well as the fans.
According to Sinar Harian, President of the Local Tournament Committee, Datuk Affandi Hamzah said: "We understand that the Selayang Stadium can only accommodate 16,000 people at once and since both ATM and Kelantan have greater number of supporters, we have decided to change the venue to avoid unnecessary incidents.
"I hope that the change of venue will give comfort to all the fans during the game," he added.
ATM have reportedly agreed to have the semifinal first leg played outside of Selayang due to space constraints.
The Gladiators progressed to the semis after defeating LionsXII 4-2 on aggregate while defending champions Kelantan made it into the next round by knocking out Johor Darul Takzim 8-5 after 180 minutes of football.
