LionsXII will be buoyed by the return of Captain Marvel as they search for a crucial three points against group leaders Sarawak FA
The LionsXII have been given a major boost ahead of tonight’s do-or-die match against Sarawak FA at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Captain Shahril Ishak is set to return and is likely to feature at some point after recovering earlier than expected from a gluteus injury.
In an interview with Goal Singapore, LionsXII vice-captain Hariss Harun hailed the return of Shahril’s return to the team.
“It is good to have Shahril back (in the team),” Hariss said.
“Whether he is 100% or not, we wouldn’t know. But even if he plays some part (in the game), I’m sure he’s going to make a major contribution.”
The Malaysia Cup group match comes on the back of the international break, where the Singapore national team were hammered 6-1 by China and narrowly lost out 1-0 to Hong Kong. Hariss acknowledged the disappointment of the results, but stressed the importance of looking forward.
“It’s not easy (to get over the disappointment), but we just have to regroup and focus on the task at hand,” Hariss explained.
“It’s a must win game for us (against Sarawak) to keep our hopes alive (for qualification). Its not an ideal situation to be in, but we are confident because we are (playing) at home and are still unbeaten at home this season.”
The match will kick-off at 7.45pm at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
