Hamidin wants Young Tigers to remain focused on SEA Games

Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin wants the Harimau Muda 'A' players to remain focused on the SEA Games and not to be distracted by offers from other teams

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin has given a reminder to all the Harimau Muda 'A' players to focus on getting the gold medal at the SEA Games in Myanmar this December, instead of thinking about where they would play next season.

With several Young Tigers' players currently being offered to play in the M-League, Hamidin insisted that he will make sure that selected players who are aged 23 and below, will stay with Harimau Muda for more high level exposure.

According to Utusan, Hamidin said: "We have to be alert that this situation will happen.

"I want to remind all the players that FAM has invested a lot with Harimau Muda 'A' and they must remain focused with our gold medal mission for this year’s SEA Games.

"FAM will inform the management team, including Ong Kim Swee and Afandi Hamzah, to give reports of which players should continue playing for the Young Tigers once the Merdeka Tournament finishes.”

The issue of players having talks with Malaysian Super League teams started when Harimau Muda 'A' reportedly reached an agreement with another team regarding three of their players transfers, including their captain Mohd Irfan Fazail.

However, two players in Izzaq Faris and Syahid Zaidon will be released from the squad by next year, as they are both turning 24, while the majority of the players will have their contract end this October.
