Selangor's head coach Irfan Bakti is set to revive 'Mission 33' as Selangor seek for an appearance in the Malaysia Cup final after semi-final exits two years in a row
After failing to make it to the final last year, Selangor are once again determined to at least make it into the final this time around.
Selangor’s head coach Irfan Bakti has voiced out his full confidence in his players to go through the tournament which kicks off next month.
Speaking to Sinar Harian, Irfan said “Our target is to reach final. There is no doubt about that. Despite our failure to do so in recent years, we are determined to do well this year. I realize that this is our last chance to win a trophy this season and we will work hard to face off the challenges that come from other teams.”
Selangor are looking to revive their Mission 33, which was launched by the Selangor Football Association two seasons ago, but they have failed twice along the way as they were knocked out by Terengganu in 2011 and by the eventual-champions Kelantan last year.
Selangor’s achievements this season have not been disastrous as they finished second in the Super League behind champions Lions XII, and went down to Johor Darul Takzim in the quarter-final of the FA Cup.
