FAM's Secretary-general, Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, has insisted that he will not bow out from his position unless the President gives the word
The Secretary-general of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, has insisted that he will not step down and give in to the pressure despite being heavily criticised by a lot of people.
According to Azzuddin, the only person that can sack or ask him to step down is the FAM President, Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Speaking to reporters at Wisma FAM earlier today, Azzuddin said: "I only followed the FAM Statute, which stated that the appointment and termination of a Secretary-general is under the powers of the President.
"With that, nobody can ask me to step down or pressure me to do so.
"I have been doing my job in accordance with the FAM Statute."
Azzuddin, who has been the FAM Secretary-general since 2007, was asked to step down by Kelantan Football Association advisor Tan Sri Annuar Musa, because he felt that many of the problems with the FAM actually came from Azzuddin himself.
Azzuddin insisted that he is not afraid of any threats from anyone and said: "This is normal and I have been going through such situations since my appointment in 2007.
"I will still remain strong and face any criticism that somes at me."
