Elavarasan: We played to win

Terengganu Head Coach, E. Elavarasan, voiced his disappointment after losing a breathtaking tie to Kelantan and crashing out of the Malaysia FA Cup

Terengganu Head Coach E. Elavarasan has voiced out his disappointment after his team were kicked out of the FA Cup in extra time, losing on aggregate to rivals Kelantan in the cruellest of fashions.

Despite Terengganu leading 4-0, which meant that they were leading 5-4 on aggregate, Kelantan managed to score in the 95th minute to dramatically tie the semi-final and take both teams into extra time.

Terengganu then had to play with nine men after Effa Owona and Manaf Mamat were sent off, allowing the Red Warriors to take advantage and score the winning goal through Dickson Nwakaeme.

"I would not comment on Kelantan’s first goal because we have to see whether it is offside or not.

"We played to win but it is hard to win with only nine players," Elavarasan said.

Terengganu bowed out of the FA Cup after losing to The Red Warriors 6-5 on aggregate.

The first leg defeat in Kelantan by a score of 4-1 proved to be too big a mountain to climb as their opponents fought back to score two goals from a 4-0 deficit.
