thumbnail Hello,

Goal.com picks out the star performers in the Malaysian top flight after another pulsating weekend of action

This past week, Negeri Sembilan registered their first victory over title-chasing ATM who threw away the opportunity to overtake the LionsXII at the top of the table. The Singapore club on the other hand, dropped points when they drew with Pahang 1-1 in an away fixture.

Here, Goal.com Malaysia takes a look at the standout performers from the latest round of MSL action.

Between the posts, Khairul Fahmi made numerous saves to deny Selangor’s attackers – this includes a quick double-save that saw the Malaysia international earn a point for Kelantan.

In a three-man defence Adam Griffiths and Obinna Nwaneri come in after stellar performances when the Red Warriors and the Red Giants collided in Kota Bharu. They put on school for defenders as they snubbed out numerous attacking forays. However, the Australian did one better by scoring for Selangor – heading home a cornerkick from his colleague, Raimi Nor. Joining them will be the LionsXII's Safuwan Baharuddin who did well to keep Azamuddin Akil quiet but topped off his performance by keeping Matias Conti and Fauzi Rozlan at bay.

On the flanks we have R. Surendren, who never gave up in helping his team find the elusive equaliser, and Zairo Anuar, who came on as a substitute and provided the much needed spark to score and earn his side a well-deserved point in spectacular fashion.

In the middle of the park, Badhri Radzi, Nazrin Nawi and Mohd. Fauzan will feature. The Kelantan skipper produced a typically commanding presence and performance against Selangor while Nazrin was confident as he constantly threatened the ATM defence with his penetrating runs. Fauzan was composed for PKNS and well aware of where the opponents were. He was responsible for opening the scoring in the KL derby.

Upfront, we have Safee Sali and Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh. The former looked to have finally found the form that once made him the number one striker in the country after he masterminded the 2-1 away win with a goal and an assist to his name. Wleh was the man of the week as he - almost single-handedly put Felda United to the sword with an amazing feat of two goals and an assist in the 5-0 drubbing. The Liberian epitomised strength and clinical finishing as he ran rings around former national defender, Khaironnnisam Shahabuddin.
