Selangor welcomed the Malaysian Super League leaders to the Shah Alam Stadium and fought hard but were only able to take away one point from the cagey encounter.
LionsXII came into the game with the clear strategy to play to a draw and they did well to keep out a rampaging Red Giants' side.
Selangor assistant coach, P. Maniam, spoke at the press conference after the game and delighted with his players' 100 per cent output on the pitch.
"We had many chances to score but we just had no luck.
"For the upcoming games I would need the players to improve on their finishing," Maniam said.
He also added that he has several players who are still recovering but should be good to go for the upcming matches.
"Our target is still to be the Malaysian Super League champions," Maniam concluded.
The Red Giants will travel to play Singapore's Tampines Rovers in the AFC Cup next Tuesday.
