The former Sydney FC defender have obtained his ITC, passed his fitness test and are set to be fielded this Saturday
After days of speculations linking ex-Sydney centreback Adam Griffiths and Selangor, it has been revealed that the two parties have come to an agreement and Griffiths is now officially a Selangor player, and will be eligible for all domestic competitions as a replacement for Peter Charappan.
It was also reported by Selangor team official, Rosedy Nadzir that Griffiths had passed his fitness test and his ITC has been cleared without any hitch. This means that he is set to make his debut in their match against league leaders LionsXII this Saturday, a piece of news that is definitely going to bring cheers to the fans, after weeks of misfortune that began with their FA Cup exit at the hands of Darul Takzim last week.
The Red Giants also lost their prolific goal scorer Forkey Doe to an injury in the same match, before failing to notch a win over bottom-placed Negeri Sembilan last Saturday, and on Wednesday two of their players; Shukor Jusoh and Afiq Azman were handed a suspension for offences committed in an earlier match.
However, the 33-year-old Australian will not be eligible for their AFC Cup match against Tampines Rovers next week, as squad changes for that competition can only be made after the end of the group stage, according to AFC rules.
In this Saturday’s match, Selangor will be playing host to LionsXII, and they will have to win to keep their title hopes alive as they are now in third place, separated by four points from the Singaporean side.
