thumbnail Hello,

The Football Association of Malaysia have fined the Sarawak FA and have ordered for the team to play in an empty stadium due to fans' poor behaviour

The Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) have been slapped with a fine and punished further by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to play without an audience.

In their second leg of FA Cup quarter-final clash with Kelantan, the game had to be stopped for a while due to the Sarawak fans' going out of control.

Secretary-general of the FAM, Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, has explained that the punishment which the FAS are set to receive are not to cause a burden them, but something that is within the rules of the association.

Azzudddin explained that any punishment announced, after looking at the reports from match officials, and brought to discussion with the Discplinary Committee, are purely for the safety of everyone.

"Sarawak were fined and punished to play without any audience before because of their fans' unruly behaviour.

"This time, it happened again," Azzuddin told Sinar Harian.

He also added: "They have to learn the lessons from previous punishments, and I can only plead that all football fans  come to the stadium with a sporting spirit."
