After a meeting with Sultan Ahmad Shah, Tunku Ismail Idris has withdrawn his resignation and will be the Johor FA President once again
It has been a week of bizarre twists in the saga between the Johor Football Association President; Tungku Ismail and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
After deciding to resign from his post as Johor FA President last week, Tunku Ismail who is also the Crown Prince of the state of Johor, was on Tuesday summoned for a meeting with the FAM President; Sultan Ahmad Shah.
News have now emerged that Tunku Ismail has apparently withdrawn his resignation after he was persuaded by Sultan Ahmad Shah, the Sultan of the state of Pahang himself, during the closed-door meeting.
He was also reported to have attended the meeting with his father; the Sultan of Johor, and the Crown Prince of the state of Pahang.
Sultan Ahmad Shah, said after the meeting: "We are grateful to God that the Crown Prince has agreed to rescind his earlier decision to take up the position of Johor FA President again.
"We have also advised him to keep on focusing on improving the state of football in Johor."
However, the earlier punishment of a six-month suspension meted out to Tunku Ismail for criticising the FAM would still be in effect.
Sultan Ahmad Shah added that no member of the association can escape an Article 88 ruling that has been in place for years.
The FAM have been under severe criticism in the past few weeks for their doggedness against criticism shot at them and for the way in which the association has been handling Tunku Ismail’s suspension.
In press statement, the FAM has issued an order for any news reports regarding Tunku Ismail to be submitted to the Johor Palace for approval before publication.
