Malaysia’s Under-15 squad confirmed their slot in the semi-finals of the Frenz International Cup yesterday with their second win of the tournament.
S. Balachandran's young boys went top of Group A after beating Incheon Selection of South Korea 2-0 at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya.
Striker Kogileswaran Raj turned hero for the team by scoring both the goals in the first half of the match.
The talented youngster opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he pounced on to a loose ball in the box and poked it home with his outstretched leg, before adding a second with a well-placed header eleven minutes later.
Malaysia had more chances to improve the score-line in the second-half but Incheon’s goalkeeper, Noh Seung Yoon proved to be a difficult boy to beat.
Coach Balachandran chose not to be complacent, despite the win.
“I have two players who are suffering from injuries. In the last match, we will have a mixture of players so that we could still give our best shot in the last game.
“As for now, I am happy with the performance of my boys.”
In the group’s other match, Frenz United Malaysia and Slavia Praha of the Czech Republic played out a goalless draw.
The national team will wrap up their group fixtures against fellow Malaysians, Frenz United on Tuesday.
