The latest player to make it into LionsXII injury list is defender Sevki Sha’ban, who limped out of the Malaysia Cup semi-final against ATM FA after having come on as a second-half substitute.

According to Sevki’s tweet, he will be out for almost a year, leaving not only his future at LionsXII hanging in the balance but also his playing prospects for the 2013 season.

Sevki had previously stood in well for Safuwan Bahrudin when the latter was out seeking treatment for a knee injury back in July. During that period, midfield general Isa Halim and Juma’at Jantan were also sidelined due to a knee and foot injury respectively.

Even goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud was not spared the injury curse, as he did not see any action for a full two months after suffering a knee injury in March.

Throughout the season, coach V. Sundramoorthy has literally not had a day whereby every single one of his players were fully fit.

In May, Sundram had to make do without captain Shahril Ishak for most parts of the latter stages of the Malaysian league, as the national skipper was out with a dislocated shoulder sustained during a match against Kedah.

Players such as Shahir Hamzah, Khairul Amri and Khairul Nizam have also had their fair share of injuries, recovering from their setback but only to make a swift return to the treatment table.
