Liverpool skipper believes former Newcastle man should be in Roy Hodgson's squad for the competition in the summer after an impressive run of performances
Since moving from Newcastle for €43 million (£35m) last January the striker has endured a tough time on Merseyside, scoring just 11 times in over 50 games for the Reds.
However, in the past five games the 23-year-old has found the net three times, including in the FA Cup final where he put in an impressive performance and was unlucky not to get a second goal where he was denied by a great save from Petr Cech.
Gerrard feels Liverpool were more dangerous with Carroll on the pitch and believes he should be in Roy Hodgson’s squad for competition in Poland and the Ukraine.
He told reporters: “Credit to Andy who came on and played brilliantly well.
“He changed the way we played. We were a lot better with him in the team, we were a lot more direct, we created more, we were more of a threat.
“I think his form the last two or three months has been fantastic and he is certainly pushing for a place back in the England squad in my opinion.”
