Manchester City have launched a new smartphone app designed to help visiting soccer fans to make the most of their time in Manchester.

The app, CityHome, which was released on the eve of the side’s Uefa Champions League clash with FC Barcelona, will help fans to scout out the best restaurants, bars, shopping and sightseeing locations. It will also offer advice on how best to reach the Etihad Stadium for Tuesday’s Round of 16 fixture.

When fans arrive at the stadium the app will give them the details of any pre-match events taking place in the BT Square fan zone.

CityHome can currently be viewed in English, Spanish and Catalan but the available languages will change to reflect the nationality of the visiting teams.

Manchester City’s director of marketing, media and fan development, Diego Gigliani, said: “Manchester City in not only proud of being a welcoming club for both opposition clubs and their fans alike, but also for guests visiting the city. As a club that has deep roots in the community, we are extremely passionate about putting Manchester on the European map as a destination for leisure and tourism, in addition to world class football.

“Our new match app has been designed to ensure visiting fans not only receive information that will enhance their match-day experience, but also their stay in this great city.”
