thumbnail Hello,

Marouane Fellaini's £27.5 million move to Old Trafford was the manager's sole business during the summer, and he has revealed he is prepared to strengthen further next month

David Moyes says he is open to strengthening his Manchester United squad during the January transfer window.

The Scot's troubles in the transfer market were well documented during the summer - with a failed move for Cesc Fabregas the most high profile - as he secured just Marouane Fellaini.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka believes his former boss was not supported by the Old Trafford hierarchy during the close-season, but Moyes is prepared to go in search for new talent again.

"The club has always thought about strengthening," Moyes told reporters.

"You do that every transfer window. We will try and make that happen."

United lost 1-0 at home to Everton on Wednesday as they lost further ground on table-toppers Arsenal - the gap now 12 points - and will have to do without the suspended Wayne Rooney for the visit of Newcastle.

Shinji Kagawa is also expected to miss the visit of Alan Pardew's side.

"Shinji has a sickness bug," Moyes added.

"We need to see how he is on Saturday but he wasn't too good after the game [against Everton on Wednesday]."
