The 25-year-old right-back insists he is available for international selection but says he will not plead with Roy Hodgson to be picked ahead of next year's World Cup
The right-back has yet to feature in Hodgson’s squad and his last appearance came under then-caretaker manager Stuart Pearce against Holland in February 2012.

“I want to play for my country and I would be happy if I did," he told reporters.
“I’m not going to beg for [Roy Hodgson] to pick me.
“I’m not some sort of charity case. If he needs me I will be there because everyone wants to play for their country.”
When named on the standby list by Hodgson for Euro 2012, Richards refused the opportunity, instead favouring selection for Team GB in London 2012.
“It was one of those where Stuart Pearce asked me to go to the Olympics and not go on standby [for Euro 2012],” said Richards.
“If I went on standby, I might not have made the Olympics and that was one of the highlights of my career.”
