The highly rated French defender quashes any chance linking him with a move away from Portugal, expecting to still be at the club after the close of the transfer window

Porto centre-back Eliaquim Mangala has declared that he will remain with the Portuguese champions despite late interest from Manchester City.

The defeated FA Cup finalists remain keen to reinforce their defence despite having already signed Argentine veteran Martin Demichelis from Atletico Madrid on a two-year deal.

TRANSFER TALK
13/8 Manchester City are 13/8 with BetVictor to win the Premier League
As reported by Goal, City were prepared to pay up to £30 million for France international Mangala, though that remains some way short of his £38m release clause.

However, the 22-year-old has dismissed talk of him leaving the Estadio do Dragao and expects to still be a Porto player when the transfer window shuts on Monday night.

"I will not leave FC Porto," Mangala told O Jogo. "On September 11 [after international duty with France] I'm back."

City's need for defensive cover was eased by the arrival of Demichelis, while Matija Nastasic returned to the club's starting XI for the 2-0 win over Hull City Tigers after injuring his ankle in the club's pre-season trip to Hong Kong.

Mangala joined Porto from Standard Liege in 2011 and enjoyed a breakthrough season last term, making 36 appearances, keeping 25 clean sheets and scoring five goals in all competitions.
