However, the 22-year-old has dismissed talk of him leaving the Estadio do Dragao and expects to still be a Porto player when the transfer window shuts on Monday night.
"I will not leave FC Porto," Mangala told O Jogo. "On September 11 [after international duty with France] I'm back."
City's need for defensive cover was eased by the arrival of Demichelis, while Matija Nastasic returned to the club's starting XI for the 2-0 win over Hull City Tigers after injuring his ankle in the club's pre-season trip to Hong Kong.
Mangala joined Porto from Standard Liege in 2011 and enjoyed a breakthrough season last term, making 36 appearances, keeping 25 clean sheets and scoring five goals in all competitions.
