The 22-year-old, who has been at the Liberty Stadium since 2012 following a £1 million move from Arsenal, has made only a handful appearances for the Swans following two injury-plagued seasons.

Bartley, who is contracted to the Welsh side until 2015, struggled to oust Ashley Williams and Chico Flores from the centre of Michael Laudrup's back line last season and was set for more competition with the arrival of Jordi Amat.

The Stockport-born defender began his football career in the North West playing for Bolton, before joining Arsenal in 2007 and winning the Premier Academy League and the FA Youth cup.

Constantly finding his first team chances lacking, Bartley has previously spent loan spells with Sheffield United and Scottish side Rangers.
