thumbnail Hello,

The first north London derby of the new season is scheduled for the end of August at the Emirates Stadium and the Spurs defender is hoping for an early boost for his side

Tottenham defender Michael Dawson says he is already looking forward to the north London derby against Arsenal.

Spurs will make the short trip to the Emirates to take on the Gunners on August 31 in only their third Premier League game of the new season.

However, the 29-year-old says he is eyeing a positive result, after losing 5-2 on their both of Tottenham's last two visits to the home of their rivals.

“We know what that game means to everyone,” he told the club's official website.

“The Emirates hasn’t been great for us recently but that’s history now, hopefully we’ll go there early in the season and get a positive result.”

Andre Villas-Boas' men open their campaign away at newly-promoted Crystal Palace, who finished fifth in the Championship last season.

The Eagles went on to gain promotion through the play-offs after defeating Brighton and Watford and Dawson says they will be relishing being back in the top flight.

“They weren’t in the best of form but turned that around with a win just before the play-offs and carried that momentum into the play-offs,” he added.

“I’m sure they will be looking forward to their first match back in the Premier League after a few years away.”
