But, as revealed by Goal, Martinez's plans could be scuppered by former Toffees boss David Moyes, who hopes to lure Neville to Old Trafford to become part of the club’s new-look coaching structure.
However, Martinez remains keen to speak to the ex-England international as he looks to put his own coaching team in place for the start of the new season.
He told evertontv: "I think Phil Neville is an Everton icon and I think he can bring a lot into his time as a coach.
"I really want to speak with him and see how he feels about his future."
Neville joined the Toffess back in 2005 and become the club’s captain in 2007, scoring five goals in 303 appearances for the Goodison Park outfit.
