Wednesday's draw with Tottenham leaves the Blues needing one more win to guarantee a top four place, and the Brazilian is keen to get three points as soon as possible

David Luiz believes beating Aston Villa will allow Chelsea to “relax” ahead of next Wednesday’s Europa League final clash with Benfica.

Wednesday evening’s entertaining 2-2 draw with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge leaves the Blues still needing one more victory to guarantee Champions League football next season.

Asked whether the Tottenham result has affected the Blues’ mindset ahead of the trip to Amsterdam, the Brazilian replied: “No, there’s no change.

“We have another game on Saturday [against Villa], and if we win we can qualify for the Champions League and then go to the final more relaxed.”

Having already taken on his boyhood club Corinthians in the Club World Cup final in December, Luiz now faces off against his former team-mates at Benfica.

And the romance of the narrative is not lost on the 26-year-old. “That’s why football is amazing,” he added. “But I’ve lost a final already this season [against Corinthians], so now is the time to win.

“It’s an emotional game, and it will be a difficult game. It’s special for me and for my team-mates, and it should be a magnificent day.

“It will be fantastic to see my friends at Benfica before and after the game, but when we start the game we’ll forget everything and try to win.”

Victory in Amsterdam would see Chelsea briefly hold both major European trophies at the same time after last year’s ‘Miracle of Munich’ – and Luiz is aiming to make history.

“I’m always motivated to win games and titles for this club,” he continued. “It’s a big opportunity for us to win another trophy, and we could be double European champions. It’s historic.”
