Arsenal confirm pre-season trip to Vietnam

The club has confirmed that they will become the first Premier League side to play in the country when they visit Hanoi in July 2013 during their Asian pre-season tour
Arsenal have confirmed that they will play a match against the Vietnam national team in Hanoi on July 17.

The club have a large following in the region, and will become the first Premier League side to play a first-team match in the country.

The Asia tour will see the Gunners also travel to Jakarta to play the Indonesia national team on July 14, and Japan to face Arsene Wenger's former club Nagoya Grampus at the 45,000-capacity Toyota Stadium on July 22.

The Arsenal chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, told the club's website: "Arsenal has so many loyal supporters in Asia and we are delighted to be visiting Vietnam in July to play a match in Hanoi. Everyone at Arsenal is proud to be the first Premier League team to play a match in Vietnam and to be spending time in this wonderful country.

"Arsene Wenger, the players and all the staff have hugely enjoyed our tours to Asia in the past two years, and we are all looking forward to visiting Vietnam as part of our Asia Tour 2013."

The Asia Tour 2013 will be the club's third pre-season trip to Asia in successive seasons.  In July 2011, the first-team squad visited Hangzhou, China, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
