Agbonlahor has faith in Aston Villa team-mate Bowery

The former Chesterfield youngster has featured in just six of the team’s league matches this term but the experienced forward believes his versatility will serve him well
Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Jordan Bowery "will become a really good player" at the club and says the striker's versatility will see him break into the first team sooner rather than later.

Despite a recent outing in his side's 2-1 home triumph over West Ham, Bowery has found himself behind the more established threats of Andreas Weimann, Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor in the pecking order.

But Agbonlahor heaped praise on the player’s progression in training and believes the younger's best is yet to come.

"Jordan is a big strong player. He's got a yard of pace as well," Agbonlahor told the club's official website.

"It's all new to him. He's getting used to the tempo of the Premier League.

"He's learning every day and the boys have noticed in training that he's getting better. I reckon he will become a really good player."

And despite starts being in scant supply, the England international has faith in Bowery's adaptability and believes he has performed well when called upon.

Agbonlahor added: "He's had time out on the wing, which is not his favoured role. He's a striker but as you've seen with me, you will play anywhere.

"He's adapted well and done well when he has played. It's good for the gaffer [Paul Lambert] because he has got a lot of options.

"It was good for him to get some time on the pitch against West Ham and get some experience of the Premier League."
