thumbnail Hello,

The 25-year-old Belgium international moved to White Hart Lane from Dutch giants Ajax in the summer and has been a success in a number of roles for Andre Villas-Boas' side so far

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has declared himself happy with his bright start to life in the Premier League, but believes that there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Comfortable at both left-back and centre-back, the 25-year-old has been at his versatile best so far this campaign in helping to cover the long-term absences of both Younes Kaboul and Benoit Assou-Ekotto who have been sidelined with injury.

Nevertheless, despite putting in some impressive performances, most notably during the club's 3-2 win at Old Trafford against Manchester United back in September, Vertonghen believes there is still more to come from him.

"I wanted to be ready when I came to the Premier League and I felt ready when I came to Tottenham," Vertonghen told the club's official website.

"I think I’ve done okay, but you haven’t seen my best yet. I think I can improve.

"I’m happy with my first six months, played a lot of games, feel the confidence of the players, staff and supporters as well.

"After six months, I think I can be happy with my performances. The fans have been very supportive, I love them as well."

The Belgium international has appeared in 19 of the club's 21 Premier League games this campaign and 26 out of a possible 30 across all competitions on his way to helping Andre Villas-Boas' side up to third in the league table.
