Wigan eyeing 'two or three' January arrivals, says Martinez

The Spaniard is keen to strengthen the Latics' squad in the winter transfer window in order to ensure his side avoid being pulled into the relegation mire this season
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has revealed he hopes to bolster his squad with "two or three" signings in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Latics currently lie 15th in the Premier League table, two points clear of the relegation zone, and the Spaniard is keen to build on that with some further additions.

"The way we’ve been running our football club we always try to work in advance," he told reporters.

"We’re trying to get probably two or three players to help the ones we have got at the club to give us a real boost in January.

"Remember it is a difficult window but we have been working now for a long time to identify players who can bring us something different."

Wigan take on Newcastle on Monday at the DW Stadium.
