TEAM NEWS: Silva returns for Manchester City against Tottenham

The Spanish playmaker has overcome a hamstring problem to line-up once more for the Premier League champions, who face a Spurs team minus midweek hat-trick hero Jermain Defoe
Roberto Mancini has recalled David Silva to the Manchester City starting line-up for the visit of Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

The Spanish midfielder last played for the Premier League champions on October 6 in a 3-0 win over Sunderland but has now overcome a hamstring injury he suffered on international duty to take the field against Andre Villas-Boas' men.

Matija Nastasic retains his place at the heart of the defence while Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez are given the nod in attack.

The away side welcome fit-again Sandro into the starting XI but Jermain Defoe, fresh from an opportunistic hat-trick against Maribor in the Europa League on Thursday, is dropped as Villas-Boas reverts to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

Leading the line is former City striker Emmanuel Adebayor, while elsewhere Brad Friedel reclaims the No. 1 jersey and Steven Caulker and William Gallas are partnered in central defence.

Manchester City starting XI:
Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Yaya Toure, Barry; Silva, Tevez, Kolarov; Aguero.

Subs: Pantilimon, Kolo Toure, Sinclair, Garcia, Dzeko, Razak, Maicon.

Tottenham starting XI: Friedel; Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen; Sandro, Huddlestone; Lennon, Dempsey, Bale; Adebayor.

Subs: Lloris, Naughton, Dawson, Livermore, Carroll, Sigurdsson, Defoe.
