Hill: Hughes can turn things around at QPR

The experienced defender insists that the club can get back to winning ways, adamant that the Welshman has the backing of himself and his team-mates to do just that
QPR defender Clint Hill believes that Mark Hughes has what it takes to turn the club's fortunes around after a disappointing start to the season that sees them lie bottom of the Premier League.

The veteran claims that everyone at Loftus Road is trying their best to get results for the team but, with 11 new signings in the summer, the players will need time to gel.

The 33-year-old has compared Hughes' situation to that of Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas, who was subject to criticism at the start of the campaign before finding form before the international break with four consecutive wins.

"Everybody on the inside is pulling in the same direction and trying to get the results we need," Hill told The Fulham Chronicle.

"The gaffer's confident he can turn things around - he wouldn't be here if he wasn't. He's still got the full support of all the boys, we're fully behind him and the staff.

"If you have three or four bad results, people from outside the club start writing things and pointing fingers," said Hill.

"If you look at the Tottenham manager, three or four weeks ago, everyone was saying he was a bad manager. All of a sudden, he gets a few results, and nothing is said."
