Agbonlahor praises new signings' impact at Aston Villa

The 25-year-old forward has been pleased with what he's seen of the club's recent acquisitions and believes they have shown they are instantly capable of making a top-flight impact
Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has been impressed with how quickly the club's summer signings have started life at Villa Park.

After finding success with a moderately-assembled squad at Norwich in recent years, Paul Lambert has again plundered the lower leagues for talent, with the likes of Matt Lowton, Joe Bennett and Ashley Westwood joining.

The 25-year-old reserved special praise for former Crewe midfielder Westwood and insists that the recent arrivals have what it takes to slot straight into Premier League life.

"It is good from the gaffer's point of view that he has faith in these players and, especially in training, people have done really well," Agbonlahor told reporters.

"One example is Ashley Westwood, who has come into training and not looked out of place. He's done really well and not looked different to any other player in the squad.

"So I think the gaffer has made his choices and he's made them because he thinks those players can do it and so far, in training and in games, they have shown that they can.

"They don't look fazed by the pressure. They have just come in and looked as if they have played 30 or 40 games."
