The Argentine has praised the defensive work of James Perch and Mike Williamson for the Magpies in recent weeks, but has emphasised the importance of the captain’s returnJonas Guiterrez has expressed the importance of Fabricio Coloccini’s return to the Newcastle side, and is hopeful that he will be back in time for the Tyne & Wear derby with Sunderland on 21 October.
Coloccini was injured on international duty with Argentina and is expected to be ready in time for the clash.
The Magpies suffered a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday and Gutierrez responded by claiming that, while replacements James Perch and Mark Williamson have held their own, the captain’s return cannot come soon enough.
"He [Coloccini] is really important for us," he told reporters.

"They have done fantastically well during the time that Colo was injured. But always it is important to have the captain back.
"He is really important for the team and for the squad. We need players for the next few weeks, which are going to be tough, so it's really important to have those players back."
Alan Pardew’s men claimed the bragging rights in the last derby match courtesy of a goal from Ryan Taylor, but Gutierrez insists that his side must remain focused for the full 90 minutes if they are to achieve a victory.
"We have got to be focused for the whole 90 minutes. That's football, this is the Premier League," he continued.
"You have to be focused and don't do anything without concentration because that happens.
"If we concede from set-plays or in a silly situation, then it's difficult to come back because all the Premier League teams have really good players, they are really good sides, so we have to be focused."
