Granero laments QPR's poor start to campaign

The former Real Madrid midfielder has moved to praise the Rs' fans but insists that the side know that they must improve if they are to end their winless opening to the season
QPR midfielder Esteban Granero has spoken of his disappointment at his side’s start to the Premier League campaign.

A 3-2 defeat at the hands of West Brom on Saturday left Mark Hughes’ side sitting bottom of the league table, without a single win this season.

But Granero has insisted that the players are aware of their shortcomings and claims that there is still plenty of time to improve.

“We’re not happy [with results so far this season],” the 25-year-old told QPR’s official website.

“We know we are not where we’re supposed to be with the squad we have. We are lucky that it’s only the beginning because we have time to recover – be we have to do so soon.

“We conceded two goals in the first 20 or so minutes [against West Brom]. After that, it’s difficult. We have to learn.

“After 20 minutes, I thought we made it a good game. We just couldn’t score more than two goals. When you score two goals, you have to win. As a team, we have to improve.”

The former Real Madrid player also moved to praise the club's fans, whilst urging them to continue their support of the players and the team as they strive to improve.

He added: “They were fantastic again. They are always there and we have to say thank you to them.

“All we ask is for them to keep pushing, because I’m sure they’ll have a lot of happy days to come this season.”
