Tate tips Swansea to bounce back from Aston Villa defeat

The Swans' defender believes his team-mates' character will see them recover from the defeat to the Villans, and was delighted to make his long-awaited comeback to action
Swansea City defender Alan Tate has backed his side to bounce back following their 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa, which condemned the Swans to their first defeat in the Premier League this season.

The Swans had previously made a storming start to their campaign before their trip to Villa Park, thanks to back-to-back victories over QPR and West Ham, however, goals from Matt Lowton and Villa debutant Christian Benteke sealed the victory for Paul Lambert's side.

"There'll always be ups and downs in this league," Tate told the club's official website. "We have got to bounce back now against a very good Everton team."

Tate cited Swansea's team ethic and the down-to-earth character within the squad as reason to believe there will be no adverse reaction to the Villa defeat.

He added: "To be fair, we have a good attitude and character within this squad, and we don't go over the top when we win and we don't hit rock bottom when we lose.

"We'll just get back to training down and make sure we are fully prepared for a tough game with a very good Everton side."

Tate made his first appearance in the Premier League since Swansea's opening-day defeat to Manchester City last season after a raft of injury problems, and was satisfied with his display following his long-awaited return to the starting line up.

"I was pleased with my performance," he claimed. "It was a normal performance from me - pretty solid and nothing fancy. That's what I've been like for the last few years, so I was happy with how I went."
